HOWTO: Reset a user password in RPM

Merchant Administrators have the ability to reset the passwords of users other than themselves.

To reset a password:
  1. Log in to RPM
  2. Select the "Users" link on the right hand side of the homepage OR go to Administration and select the link from there
  3. From the list of users displayed, select the one whose password needs to be reset to expand their user details
  4. Select the "Login" tab
  5. If the user is locked out, the link "Unlock user" will appear - select this link.
  6. Enter the same temporary value in both the "Password" and "Confirmation" fields.
  7. Hit the "Update" button and provide the user with the temporary password set in step 6.
If the user remembers their password, hit the "Update" button after step 5 and ask them to try logging in again. The user will be prompted to set a new password for themselves after successfully entering the temporary password correctly.

Note that both the temporary password set in step 6 and the new password must conform to the usual standards set by E-xact for secure passwords:
  • At least 8 characters long
  • Contain both letters and numbers
  • Different from the last 4 passwords used on the user's account
